Sade Adeniran

“Sade is an award winning writer and filmmaker who has written for radio, theatre and film and facilitated workshops in various countries.”

Sade Adeniran is a British-Nigerian author and filmmaker with a passion for stories that challenge, move and endure. Her debut novel Imagine This, a powerful story of identity, family and belonging, won the 2008 Commonwealth Writers Prize and is currently in development as an animated feature film. Sade believes in the transformative power of narrative, and everything she creates reflects that conviction.

Her career spans fiction, film and radio. Her first radio play, Memories of a Distant Past, was written as a final-year university project and submitted on a whim to the BBC — where it was produced for BBC Radio 4’s First Bite Festival. From there, her work has been performed at the Lyric Theatre, the Bush Theatre and the Riverside Studios in London. Her short films have screened internationally.

Sade is also a creative writing facilitator. In early 2026 she completed a five-venue workshop tour across Lagos — reaching 133 participants at community spaces and secondary schools, and earning an Excellent rating across every facilitator category. She believes that everyone has a story worth telling. Her workshops exist to help people find it.
