The Project

As mentioned above, Mother is the continuation of Lola Ogunwole’s story; the protagonist in Sade Adeniran’s award winning debut novel Imagine This.  People have often asked Sade what happened to Lola, so instead of writing a sequel, she decided to make a short film exploring the unanswered questions from Imagine This.

Sade recently adapted Imagine This into a screenplay and it made it into the 2nd round of the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab.  She is hoping to make Imagine This as a feature but is concentrating efforts on making Mother as a proof of concept piece and to show that there is an appetite for stories which are not mainstream.

Mother is currently in pre-production with cast and crew decisions currently being finalised.   We’re aiming for May/June 2015 to start principal photography.

Why we need you

Making a film is a challenge, finding finance is even more of a Herculean task, so we need your help to raise money for various aspects from equipment and set design. to cast and crew fees  We have already raised some funds through a fundraising event we ran in January.  The idea was for fans to be able to meet and find out first hand what the film is about and to ask us questions they might have.

We were able to raise some money, but not enough to cover all the costs of making Mother.

Why we’re only asking for £2852

We like to do things in stages and now that we’ve raised enough to pay cast fees, we’d now like to concentrate on raising enough to pay at least minimum wage for an amazing crew, who don’t always get enough credit for the hard work they put in on set.

 

Do we need more? HECK YES. 🙂

Whilst we’re only asking for £2852 at this point in time, we ultimately need to raise a total of £5855.  So please spread the word and help us get this film made.
