Let’s Have Another Throwback Day

By |2016-12-31T02:17:31+00:00May 29th, 2014|Radio Plays, Thoughts, Throwback Day|0 Comments

Was going through stuff, trying to declutter.  Hasn't worked, yet, I gave up before I was even ten minutes into the exercise, mainly because I managed to find some stuff like yesterday's poem.  I also found a box full of theatre plays, synopsis for screenplays, short stories and radio plays I'd written.  One of the plays didn't have a title, not even a working one. :-) Strangely enough, none of this stuff has ever been seen by anyone but me.  For good reason too.   So while I was digging through my past attempts at being a writer, I came across this from way back in the past.  I kept it, because it's the first thing I wrote which was commissioned.  I remember the excitement, the validation, the blood sweat and tears and walking into Broadcasting House for the first time and thinking, 'oh my, I'm a real bona fide [...]

Throwback Wednesday

By |2014-05-28T09:36:43+00:00May 28th, 2014|Poetry, Rant, Thoughts|0 Comments

It really should be throwback Friday, but couldn't wait that long before posting this.  I must also point out that I've exceeded my own expectations, two posts in one week. Hmm. :-) Okay enough silliness. I was digging through my overcrowded storeroom and found a poem a wrote many moons ago which was subsequently published in the first issue of my university's creative writing magazine. What struck me, is the fact that although a decade has gone by since I wrote it, things haven't really changed that much.  It's called Not Black and White.  Let me know what you think.   NOT BLACK AND WHITE by Sade Adeniran The poison of racist politics exploited a highly unusual configuration of ethnic geographic and political factors to gain a tiny grip on the reins of community power... I feel the curdling of my guts Fear stalks me. ... however the threat must [...]

Dealing With Disappointments

By |2016-12-31T02:17:31+00:00May 25th, 2014|Crowdfunding, Film, Funding trip, Imagine This, Rant|0 Comments

Dear Blog, it's been months since my last confession.  I was in the middle of my Lagos trip the last time I wrote a blog post.  Not that I've been lazy, I've been busy doing things.  And I have, truth be known, been a little lazy in updating my blog.  However moving forward, I'm going to try for one post a week or month or something.  So lots of  hail Mary's and I do hope I am absolved of my non crime. :-) So what have I been busy doing you're asking yourselves?  Well I've been trying to raise finance for my short and feature film as well as finish a collection of short stories.  If you've been on the Podcasts page, there you will find some of the podcasts I've already released.  Sadly I just uploaded the last one left in this series, usual story, I ran out of [...]

Day 4 in Lagos

By |2013-12-06T01:35:53+00:00December 6th, 2013|Funding trip, Lagos, Thoughts|0 Comments

This morning I woke up earlyish to go to the Lagos short film festival which was billed to start at 9:30am, I was ready on time but unfortunately the driver had a pressing errand to run which means I got there at 10:30 instead. Now I rushed up the stairs thinking, OMG I'm late and I'm going to be walking in at the wrong moment.  Like the time me and my best friend were late for a funeral and we arrived as they were bringing the coffin out of the church. Truly embarrassing moment and that was down to the M3 being closed. Anyway I digress and to cut a long story short, the whole thing didn't start until 12:37pm. I've been away too long and I'm still operating on Western Time. :-)  It's day 4 of my trip and each morning I quail at the enormity of the task ahead, [...]
