Dear Blog, it’s been months since my last confession.  I was in the middle of my Lagos trip the last time I wrote a blog post.  Not that I’ve been lazy, I’ve been busy doing things.  And I have, truth be known, been a little lazy in updating my blog.  However moving forward, I’m going to try for one post a week or month or something.  So lots of  hail Mary’s and I do hope I am absolved of my non crime. 🙂

So what have I been busy doing you’re asking yourselves?  Well I’ve been trying to raise finance for my short and feature film as well as finish a collection of short stories.  If you’ve been on the Podcasts page, there you will find some of the podcasts I’ve already released.  Sadly I just uploaded the last one left in this series, usual story, I ran out of funds.  So if you’re feeling generous and would like to hear more click HERE and make your donation.  Every little bit helps.

So back to the title of this post, Dealing With Disappointments – I’m known to waffle, takes awhile to get to the point.  Anyways a couple of weeks ago my application for development and production funding for Imagine This and Mother was rejected.  I was absolutely gutted and if I’d been at home I might have crawled under the duvet and cried for awhile.  Alas I was out and about, so had to pull up my big girl pants and regroup.  Not an easy thing to do when you’re hoping so badly for something great to happen after you’ve poured blood sweat and tears into a project.

It’s took a few days to shake off the despondency and get back on the horse.  Every morning I had to remind myself of the words of Calving Coolidge, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”  Yes I have failed at this hurdle, but I have nothing to be ashamed about.  Was my pitch strong enough?  I thought it was.  Did it have all the right elements?  Probably not for them, which is why it was turned down.  Do I give up and go crawling back to my tiny corner of the universe because of it?  Heck no, the journey has just begun.

So my next step is to start a crowd funding campaign to raise development funding for Imagine This.  Which is where you come in, whether it’s £1 or £100 that you can spare, all donations are greatly appreciated.  Please click here to donate.

The Imagine This film website is still under construction (lack of funds again) so all updates will be on the Film or News page of this site.  Here’s the temporary poster for the Imagine This feature film.
