Dj,

Just finished the BBC interview.  I can’t say it was a complete success, however the good news is that it wasn’t a complete disaster.

As I sit here and reflect on the conversation, I keep kicking myself, saying I should have said this, and I should have said that.  What’s sticking in my craw at the moment is the point of being categorised as a black author.  Yes I’m black and I’m an author, but should that matter? Which I of course pointed out to him, Dotun’s response to this was to say if I go to America, the millions of black people over there are more likely to read and identify with and buy my book.  What I should have done was point out the fact that those championing my cause are diverse in their ethnicity.  Why does it have to be about the colour of your skin?

It irks me.

Move on.
