A Mother’s Journey

By |2016-12-31T02:17:30+00:00April 16th, 2015|Film, Thoughts|0 Comments

Those of you who are on my email list or who have been on my website, Facebook page or read my Twitter feed, will know by now that I’m trying to make my second short film called Mother. Heads up here, there’s a likelihood we’ll be changing the title to “A Mother’s Journey,” which I think is a tad more descriptive. Anyway if you haven’t seen any of the tweets, emails or Facebook posts soliciting your goodwill; the skinny is that, I’m continuing the story of Lola Ogunwole, the protagonist from my award winning book Imagine This. Lola is a character that seemed to linger with readers and they wanted to know what happened to her. I jokingly said I’d be writing a sequel, which in theory I have, just not as a book. :-) I’m sure most of you have figured out by now that, A Mother’s Journey is [...]

Yay, I'm soooooo excited.  The new poster for my upcoming short film Mother, is ready.  I'm excited because although I've yet to receive any funding or shoot a single frame, it finally feels like things are moving forward.  So hopefully by Spring 2015, we'll have something in the can. Mother continues the story of Lola Ogunwole, the beloved character from Imagine This.  You can read more about the film HERE.

Dear Blog, it's been months since my last confession.  I was in the middle of my Lagos trip the last time I wrote a blog post.  Not that I've been lazy, I've been busy doing things.  And I have, truth be known, been a little lazy in updating my blog.  However moving forward, I'm going to try for one post a week or month or something.  So lots of  hail Mary's and I do hope I am absolved of my non crime. :-) So what have I been busy doing you're asking yourselves?  Well I've been trying to raise finance for my short and feature film as well as finish a collection of short stories.  If you've been on the Podcasts page, there you will find some of the podcasts I've already released.  Sadly I just uploaded the last one left in this series, usual story, I ran out of [...]

Day 3 in Lagos

By |2013-12-04T22:51:46+00:00December 4th, 2013|Film, Funding trip, Lagos, Thoughts|0 Comments

First day I wasn't up at the crack of dawn and managed to sleep till 8am for a change.  A sort of productive day, kicking round ideas on the film industry in Nigeria and how I was going to make Imagine This an enticing prospect for investors to want to put their hands in their pockets. First problem I have is there are no available statistics to show ROI on films made in Nigeria, HOAYS, which could be used as a bench mark has not been released yet so those investors are yet to see any money coming in.  Films like Phone Swap, or Last Flight to Abuja which are still fairly low budget but well made films have no readily available data to use for comparison. It would be interesting to find out how much film revenue is actually generated at the Nigerian box office.  How many Nigerians actually go to [...]
