Day 2 in Lagos

It's been day 2 and a little bit of headway has been made.  I ventured off the Island and headed into the mainland to an important meeting which was arranged as I was on my way to another meeting in Gbagada.  I did my first ever film pitch and it wasn't until I was halfway though that I actually realised I was trying to sell the idea to this guy.  Which is when the panic set in and the levee's breached underneath my arms and all the tips and tricks I'd learnt in the past couple of months just went to pot. Despite my mumbling and fumbling with sentences, I was able to articulate my vision for the film and in the process, bag myself an Executive Producer (EP).  Which means I've gone from being a team of me to a team of two.  Yay.  I've also set up a [...]

My Thoughts on the Diversify Conference

By |2016-12-31T02:17:31+00:00November 14th, 2013|Film, Imagine This, Thoughts, Who am I|0 Comments

Today started with me not wanting to get out of bed, because as usual I was up late. I had to get a draft of the script to the lovely Ben, who is sorting out the budget. Anyway I woke up and thought, I have so much work to do, do I really want to go to a conference and listen to people tell me what I already know? But then I thought, but maybe they will have solutions or action points or suggestions on what can be done to improve the diversity of minority groups in the UK film & TV industry.  I've dipped in and out of the media world through the passing years. I started with radio, managed to get one radio play on Radio 4, but then my lovely producer left to have a baby and that was the end of that.  The next play she [...]

Imagine This: It’s a Journey

By |2016-12-31T02:17:31+00:00November 4th, 2013|Film, Imagine This|0 Comments

So last week after putting an ad on Shooting People, I met a potential producer for Imagine This, only problem is that he wanted to be paid up front and me has got no money to pay. So it looks like for now I'm going to have to be my own producer until I can raise some finance then it will be a case of finding a very good line producer.  Well that's the plan for now, who knows, it might change in the future.  I'm still excited but daunted by the sheer amount of work that needs to be done in the next couple of weeks. Game on. I'll be using this blog for updates as and when they happen, for now it's all quiet on the Western Front.

Super Excited

By |2016-12-31T02:17:32+00:00November 1st, 2013|Film, Thoughts|0 Comments

So I reckon it's time to put More Cake on the back burner and concentrate on getting Imagine This off the ground and I'm very excited.  I don't know why, 'cos I don't have a farthing to my name and I've no idea how I'm going to raise the capital to make the film.  But you know what, the world is such a wonderful place and I believe it will happen. I've set things in motion and there are possibilities out there and I think that's what is exciting when embarking on a new project.  You have a lot to lose but so much to gain too.  So instead of worrying about stuff, I'm going to hope that along my journey, I meet the kind of people who are open to a proper collaboration.  Yes we all want to get paid and keep body and soul together, but I want [...]
