DJ,I can't get enough of google, I like to check up on myself and see if the power of the internet is working for me.  Found myself on Crockat & Powell, Adam, who previously had spoken so scathingly about self-published books has taken it all back.  He has in fact been quite magnanimous in admitting he was wrong, which has cheered me up a bit. In his original post he said something about most self-publishing being pure delusion, so it's nice of him to aknowledge an exception to the rule. :-)Tomorrow evening is the big interview with Dotun & Valley and my stomach is still doing flip-flops. I've been told by a friend to go to bed early, to take it easy tomorrow and make sure I eat two hours before the interview.  Hmmm.

I sold a book

DJ, I think it's going to be another rainy miserable day.  This publishing business is hard, I have my highs and my lows.  Yesterday I decided to follow up on the review copy of Imagine This I'd sent to Crockatt and Powell, only for Adam to tell me he was just about to email me.  It turns out, they'd received the book the day before and sold it within a day of it hitting the shop floor.  So basically, they want some more copies.  This is great, a complete stranger walked into a shop and picked me.I know it's silly and it's only one book, but I feel like the kid who gets picked first for a team sport.  All I keep thinking is that, someone liked my book.  I just hope they don't spot the typo, which they will 'cos it's so glaringly obvious that the only way you'd miss [...]

I’m mean

By |2007-06-28T08:05:00+00:00June 28th, 2007|Jupiter journal|0 Comments

DJ,I feel so mean, but not really.  Because the way I figure it, they should return my book if they're not going to stock it.  I sent Justin Hutchinson a copy of Imagine This to consider, got the usual letter back saying and I've decided to quote directly from the letter. 'We do not feel at present that we are able to add this book to our range.  I am sure you appreciate that there are thousands of new books published every year and we do have to make some tough decisions.' There you have it.  I know it's all down to marketing and unfortunately I don't have that sort of clout behind me.  Anyway, I'd sent him a review copy. So when I got the letter, I decided to call him up and ask for my book back.  Even though I didn't include a SAE he was gracious enough to say he'd [...]

Another radio interview

By |2016-12-31T02:17:38+00:00June 27th, 2007|Jupiter journal|0 Comments

Dear Jupiter,So yesterday was my interview with Colourful Radio, all I can say about it is, thank God it was an Internet Radio station. Hopefully only those who love me heard the interview. The presenter hadn't even bothered to read the book before I came on the show, I sent it to her two weeks ago. She read the press release I sent 1 minute before we went on air, talk about being prepared.Anyway, the next interview is on Sunday, this time I'm the one who has to do some preparation. They want to talk to me about self-publishing, now that I'm the Guru. :-) Being the sort of person that likes to hide in the background and be one with the wall, I'm finding it extremely hard putting myself out there. However if it's what I have to do to get my book out there, then I've just got [...]
