Dealing With Disappointments

Dear Blog, it's been months since my last confession. I was in the middle of my Lagos trip the last time I wrote a blog post. Not that I've been lazy, I've been busy doing things. And I have, truth be known, been a little lazy in updating my blog. However moving forward, I'm going to try for one post a week or month or something. So lots of hail Mary's and I do hope I am absolved of my non crime. :-) So what have I been busy doing you're asking yourselves? Well I've been trying to raise finance for my short and feature film as well as finish a collection of short stories. Imagine This: It’s a Journey

So last week after putting an ad on Shooting People, I met a potential producer for Imagine This, only problem is that he wanted to be paid up front and me has got no money to pay. So it looks like for now I'm going to have to be my own producer until I can raise some finance then it will be a case of finding a very good line producer. Well that's the plan for now, who knows, it might change in the future. I'm still excited but daunted by the sheer amount of work that needs to be done in the next couple of weeks. Game on. I'll be using this blog for updates as and when they happen, for now it's all quiet on the Western Front.

Super Excited

So I reckon it's time to put More Cake on the back burner and concentrate on getting Imagine This off the ground and I'm very excited. I don't know why, 'cos I don't have a farthing to my name and I've no idea how I'm going to raise the capital to make the film. But you know what, the world is such a wonderful place and I believe it will happen. I've set things in motion and there are possibilities out there and I think that's what is exciting when embarking on a new project. You have a lot to lose but so much to gain too. So instead of worrying about stuff, I'm going to hope that along my journey, I meet the kind of people who are open to a proper collaboration. The Wheels are in Motion

So it's done. I've bought the plane ticket and I'm now committed to going Nigeria to raise the finance for Imagine This the movie. I'm petrified, but as they say, nothing ventured nothing gained. I could think of all the things that could go wrong, but instead I'm going to focus on the positives. Everything is a learning experience and even if I don't manage to raise all the money, I would have made a start, it has now ceased being an abstract idea. Next step is to start thinking about cast, crew, music and everything else that goes into making a film. I'm super excited but also have this knot in my stomach. Once some money has been secured, website and social media campaign will follow, so for now, watch this space for updates.
